Estate planning is for anyone who has an estate, and almost every adult has an estate. Your estate is comprised of everything you own— your home or other real estate, investments, life insurance, checking and savings accounts, cars, furniture, and other personal possessions.
Given the choice, wouldn’t you prefer that your estate be handled according to your wishes, not by the courts? Don't you want to make the decision about when and how your children will receive their inheritance, and if your children are young, isn't it vital for you to choose who will raise them if you are not able to?
Richard is an experienced Trust lawyer who will help you craft a personalized estate plan. You'll learn what is possible, what is popular, and what may be most appropriate for your situation. Richard uses Wills, Revocable Living Trusts, Durable Powers of Attorney, Advance Health Care Directives and Grant Deeds in Estate Planning.
When you arrive for your free initial consultation with your completed interview packet, Richard will go over the basics of estate planning, and you will decide what plan is appropriate for your situation. During this meeting, any necessary information will be gathered. The usual length for all appointments is about an hour and a half.
Within the next two weeks, all documents will be drafted. Wills and revocable living trusts will have plain language summaries attached to explain the documents. A second appointment will be scheduled to finalize your paperwork. After a thorough review of your estate plan, your documents will be signed, notarized, and witnessed, and you will have the peace of mind of knowing that your family's future is secure.
